I’ve been in Lagos for just over a month now and it has been quite an eye-opener. From the culture and weather to the food. There is so much to tell about this vibrant, energetic city, but let me begin with some of the things I have noticed in terms of food.
In September my husband got offered an opportunity to work outside of South Africa. It took a few weeks for the offer to come through and I didn’t think much of it, because it wasn’t exactly what we were looking for. After much deliberation and negotiations, he was offered a contract in Nigeria. It was such a big work opportunity, one that would be silly to decline. CONTINUE READING
When we go visit our parents in KwaZulu Natal, in the small town called Empangeni, we know to brace ourselves for some serious feasting.
On average we go to visit our parents about twice a year. It is quite far to drive – ± 7 hours’ drive. You can fly from Johannesburg or Lanseria to King Shaka International in Durban, but it is about 3 hours’ drive from Empangeni to the airport and back. So, it is not worth it to go for just a weekend or a long weekend. Although we don’t visit often (sigh), we always make the most of it when we are there. CONTINUE READING
