Reusable Stainless Steel Straws

EcoLife Reusable Stainless Steel Straws

I recently bought a set of eight reusable stainless steel straws with two cleaner brushes. These are neatly packed into a little black velvet draw-string bag.

There are four longer straws, two of them slightly curved, and four shorter straws of which two are also slightly curved.

I must admit that a person should be weary ordering from certain sites that have deals running specifically for that day that will expire after 24 hours. The reason being that they do not alway include the brand that the product represents. In this case I bought a set of straws from EcoLife. I wasn’t too specific about what the brand was and it did not bother me that I have never heard of it, because it was well priced and I wanted a few straws for my husband and myself or maybe even give a few of them as gifts.

I could not find the brand anywhere online, so I am not too sure where the straws were manufactured or distributed from, but having tried them out I am happy with my purchase.

What I think of the EcoLife Stainless Steel Straws

The straws do not feel flimsy at all, but actually quite heavy. The edges are not sharp, but rounded and feels smooth in your mouth.

The two cleaner brushes are excellent quality and packed with strong bristles. The bristles are firm but not too hard that it will scratch a surface. It almost feels like the edges of the bristles have been smoothed somehow. The cleaner brush is long enough that it fits the length of the straw, whilst gripping the rounded back end. This makes the cleaning effortless.

It is obvious why rose gold is big at the moment and has been for the last couple of years. I had a choice between straws with a plain stainless steel or rose gold finish. I chose the rose gold finish. Although I would say the straws look copper instead of rose gold in colour, They are still super chic!

Some Stainless Steel Facts

According to the BSSA (British Stainless Steel Association), stainless steel is 100% recyclable and “stainless teel products are designed to have a long life; often spanning over several decades.”. They also claim that “despite the very high recyclability of stainless steel, in some circumstances stainless steel will still find its way into disposable sites etc. Unlike many other metals, in this situation stainless steel will have no damaging effects on the soil and water.”

Most stainless steel you see today is made up of at least some recycled steel scraps.

This means that the straws are very durable and recyclable and that is important to me. The question is: will I be able to hold onto my straws for the next few decades?

EcoLife Reusable Stainless Steel Straws

Pros:

  • Heavy-duty & durable.
  • Will not brake when dropped.
  • Does not taste like metal & will not rust.
  • Easily cleaned with the cleaner brushes.
  • A few shapes and lengths to choose from.

Cons:

  • Specifically for smoothies and slushies, I would have like another straw that is slightly bigger in diameter.
  • I would have preferred a cotton or hemp fibre bag.
  • If you are going to keep only one or two straws in your handbag, you will need a smaller, washable bag to store them in. You don’t want to put a dirty straw back into your handbag.
  • In my opinion, not as eco-friendly as bamboo straws that are bio-degradable, very sustainable to grow, and made using minimal energy.

There are many types of reusable straws at the moment and I am not in a position to tell you which one is better to use. But what I can tell you is that single-use plastic straws are bad for the environment and you should refuse it where you possibly can.  Any straw that is reusable is already a step in the right direction.

Get yours now & sip without feeling guilty!
